Dr. MacDonald is a native of Ventura, California. After graduating from Villanova High School in Ojai, he did his undergraduate work at UCLA. He completed a Doctor of Dental Medicine, (D.M.D.) degree, finishing as one of the top 5 graduates in his class at Washington University School of Dental Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri. Because of his high academic standing he was awarded membership in the national dental honor society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. Following dental school he was accepted to a coveted year long Veterans' Administration Hospital Residency in Palo Alto, California.
Returning to Ventura, California he and his wife, Barbara, raised a family of three wonderful children.
Throughout his career in dentistry Dr. MacDonald has been active in both the local community and his professional affiliations. He served as commissioner for the Ventura American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) for three consecutive years and is a National level referee, continuing to referee for AYSO. He is a Rotarian.
Dr. MacDonald is a current member of the local Santa Barbara Ventura County Dental Society, the California Dental Association and American Dental Association, as well as the Academy of General Dentistry. He is a past president of the Santa Barbara Ventura County Dental Society and a current member of the Dental Care Foundation Board. Dr. MacDonald completed a year residency in "Contemporary Esthetic Dentistry" in 2000 through Esthetic Professionals. As a lifetime learner, Dr. MacDonald, consistently exceeds the required minimum of continuing education units required by the state of California. In doing so, he provides the highest quality and most up to date care for his patients. Dr. MacDonald combines his years of dental experience, ongoing education, high standards and a gentle touch to provide exceptional comprehensive dental care.
Building and flying radio controlled airplanes and helicopters are one of Dr. MacDonald's favorite past times. He is a member of two local flying clubs. He leads an active lifestyle including hiking in the High Sierras, camping, bicycling, walking and swimming.
